AACC Expands Free Welder Training Program

Looking to be a certified welder but struggling to come up with the funds? Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) is expanding their free welder training program, with new welding cohorts beginning in May, June, August, September, and November! With scholarships available to cover 100% of tuition and material costs, this fully grant funded program includes two of Earlbeck's course offerings: Fundamentals of Welding and an Intermediate of your choice (GTAW, GMAW, or SMAW)

There is no specific county residency required, simply sign up for one of the info session dates listed below and you'll get the full details on AACC's welding programs and scholarships and how to apply!

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY:

  • Participation in a Welding Information Session
  • 18 years old
  • Work eligible with a goal to obtain employment using welding skills upon completion of training
  • Ninth grade-plus reading level in English and spoken English proficiency (advanced)
  • Must be available to participate in program activities (pre- and post-surveys about employment, employer engagement events and meetings with AAWDC regarding employment goals as needed)
  • Ability to commit to attend in-person training at the Clauson Center in Arnold (daytime classes meet for five weeks, evening classes meet for 15 weeks)

AAWDC Welder Cohort Opportunity!

If you're an Anne Arundel County resident, and meet the eligibility requirements outlined below, the AAWDC Welder Training Cohort could be your pathway to a future career in welding!

This 3 week program includes two of our comprehensive course offerings that will provide you with the skills and certifications you need to succeed in the industry! Starting with Fundamentals of Welding where you’ll learn the basics of Oxy-Fuel, MIG, Stick, and TIG welding, plus basic metallurgy, welding inspection, symbols, codes, and more! After that you’ll move onto an Intermediate in your choice of process where you’ll receive an official certification, making you job ready out of the gate!​

Baltimore County DEWD Welder Training Opportunity!

Become a certified welder with Baltimore County's Dept. of Economic and Workforce Development’s welder training program!

Running from March 10th to April 24th at our Baltimore facility, this program includes THREE of our regular class offerings- Fundamentals, Blueprint, and Intermediate Stick. Completing the program gets you an AWS D1.1 welder certification, making you job-ready right out of the gate!

Apply those skills to a variety of industries from automotive and aerospace, to ship and bridge building (Someone’s gonna be welding that newly-designed Key Bridge, and it could be you!)

We know that sometimes gathering the funds to start your welding career can be difficult, that’s why we’re always on the lookout for opportunities that relieve some of that burden from our students! SparkForce’s scholarship program is just the thing. Advance your career in welding and manufacturing without breaking the bank with this exciting opportunity!

SparkForce, formerly known as Nuts Bolts & Thingamajigs, has been committed to fostering the next generation of manufacturing professionals since 1990, offering scholarships twice a year to students dedicated to building careers in this dynamic field. So whether you're attending trade school, technical center, community college, or university, if your program is geared towards manufacturing, this scholarship could be for you!

If chosen, students will receive up to $2,000 per semester! This award may be used to defray the cost of tuition, books, and school fees. Required educational equipment or tools may also be covered.

TO BE ELIGIBLE:

Students must be enrolled in or entering a certificate or degree program on a full-time basis. The scholarship recognizes a wide range of programs and potential careers in the manufacturing sector- welding being one of them!

​If awarded, these scholarship funds can be used towards 
our comprehensive welding courses where students receive AWS certifications-  making them career ready out of the gate!

DEADLINE: MARCH 31st, 2025

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required for trade, community, or technical college applicants, and a 3.0 GPA for university applicants.
  • Your application must include your most recent official transcript, by the application deadline.

HOW TO APPLY:

  • The application process is easy- visit the Fabricators and Manufactures Association website and follow the prompts carefully.
  • Don't forget to include your most recent transcripts or your application will not be considered.
