Today we are spotlighting Metal Supermarkets' commitment to nurturing the next generation of skilled professionals through their $2,500  trade school scholarship program!

Initiatives like these couldn't come at a more crucial time, as industries and communities alike feel the growing impact of a skilled trades shortage across North America. 

The American Welding Society projecting a need for 360,000 new welding professionals by 2027. This need is underscored by a revealing study commissioned by Metal Supermarkets themselves, which found that over 62% of young people headed into the working world were never actually told about the multitude of career opportunities in skilled trades. This gap in awareness contributes to the millions of unfilled skilled trades positions across the U.S., a figure that's expected to keep growing, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Since one of the core missions at our Technical Center is to provide our students with job-ready skills and certifications out of the gate, we’re happy to see Metal Supermarkets stepping forward to address this need!

Recognizing the vital role that skilled tradespeople play in a multitude of industries—as well as in developing and maintaining critical infrastructure—Metal Supermarkets is offering financial support to students pursuing careers in these essential fields!

Metal Supermarkets will award $2,500 scholarships to four deserving students enrolled in trade school programs. This opportunity is open to citizens, permanent residents, and resident aliens legally residing in the USA or Canada who possess a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Eligibility criteria includes:

• Students accepted to and attending a post-secondary trade school program with a semester beginning in 2024.
• Open to citizens, permanent residents and resident aliens legally residing in the USA or Canada with a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
• Scholarship funds are payable to the winner’s certified trade school in the United States or Canada.
• Winner must enroll or already be enrolled in the upcoming semester.
