This course is designed to advance the student’s skills in the Gas Metal Arc (MIG) process. Emphasis will be placed on the student’s ability to prepare material and perform welding of fillet and groove welds in carbon steel in all positions. Practice is geared towards Structural Welding Code vertical and overhead tests
Upon Completion of this course students will be able to: • Perform Safety inspection of equipment and accessories •Set-up and prepare material for welding •Adjust machine to correct polarity, wire speed and voltage •Make fillet welds in all positions on carbon steel material •Make groove welds in all position carbon steel material •Perform GMAW AWS D9.1 vertical or overhead sheet metal test •Perform FCAW AWS D1.1, Structural Welding Code-Steel welder certification test coupons in 3G & 4G positions on 3/8” plate
Fundamentals with Any Intermediate Online Registration

Prerequisites
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Fundamentals of Welding
Each student must outfit themselves in work boots, jeans or heavy work pants and long sleeve flame retardant shirt. They must also bring safety glasses and their own welding gear. (Helmet, gloves, jacket, etc.)
