The scholarship opportunities available cater to all types of students! National Scholarships are primarily intended for four-year bachelor's programs, although some support is extended to associate degree and certificate programs as well. There are over 60 of these donor-funded scholarships, whose total exceeds $200,000! Individual awards within this scope usually vary between $2,000 and $5,000. Moving to the District Scholarship, with an average award of $1,000, these accommodate students pursuing four-year degrees, two-year programs, and certificate courses! Section and District Named Scholarships introduce additional variability, with criteria and award amounts tailored to each specific scholarship. And for those students who are seeking certificates, there are Welder Training Scholarships! This opportunity offers up to 25 awards per district, each valued at $1,000 and applications remain open year-round with rolling admissions!
It’s not tough to apply, it’s all one portal so just one profile has to be submitted and AWS offers assistance if you feel stuck! To apply for these scholarships, please visit the AWS website. You'll begin by providing information about your school and background.
Then you will be prompted to respond to three essay questions. First is your personal statement- which can cover a range of topics, like times you have demonstrated leadership, problem-solving creativity, collaboration, or your motivations for pursuing a career in the field. The next section involves detailing your welding and work experience. If you have relevant experience, share details about it. If not, you can discuss any job experiences or skills you have acquired. Lastly, you’ll be asked about your career objectives- reflect on what inspires you, the direction you aspire to take, the industry you relate to, and the type of work you envision doing each day. The application reviewers, often industry professionals, value applicants who are inspired by and committed to their chosen career paths. After the essay questions you can then review all the eligible scholarships and add in any additional requirements they may need and then you've applied! It's a simple process with big rewards that will help you on your journey to where you need to be as a welder! If you are currently enrolled, or will soon enroll, in a welding program or a related field, then consider applying for one of these scholarships. An AWS scholarship can be the extra push that helps you fulfill your goals! Scholarship funds may be used towards our Welder Training Certificate program in MD & PA.
